Schüco introducing Aluminium Grid2Shell System

one of the market leaders for
innovative building envelopes,
windows, doors and façades, has announced the
launch of its Aluminium Grid2Shell System (G2S). It is
an advanced high-strength aluminium system that
allows free-form structures, parametric and geodesic
building envelopes to be realized. The single-layer
system offers unprecedented design freedom with the
possibility of countless infill materials to be applied for
striking skin designs.
No additional steel substructures are required.
Schüco Grid2Shell gains its strength by taking advan-
tage of the three-dimensional geometry of its applica-
tions, resulting in self-supporting structures that are
able to facilitate wide open spans. The versatile sys-
tem comprises of star-nodes that are mechanically
bolted to tubular mullions that come in different stan-
dard depths, depending on the form and size of the
structure.
Schüco G2S guarantees easy plug-&-play installation,
without the need of complex welded joints and heavy
lifting equipment. Grid2Shell is completely modelled,
designed and engineered in detailed 3D software.
This allows direct production of the nodal elements,
in-house by Schüco, via hi-tech CNC machines to suit
project’s exact geometrical requirements.
Schüco Grid2Shell enables architects to design icon-
ic all-glass buildings of visual continuity with vertical
facades morphing seamlessly into skylights.
