With his work ethic, wealth of knowledge, and experience with a strong global perspective, Ramon Martinez-
       Carrera, CEO of Active Capital Reinsurance, has been the right person in the right place to lead the com-
pany after the retirement of Active Re’s founder Juan Antonio Nino Pulgar. In the interview during Monte Carlo
Rendez-Vous, Mr. Carrera talked about his management strategy for the Mena region and how it is based on the
fundamental pillars of Active Re´s vision- being a global, specialized and innovative reinsurance company and
evaluated the Rendez-Vous for this year. Following is the Q & A.

• How do you evaluate Monte Carlo Rendez-Vous for this year?
- Monte Carlo Rendez-Vous has been always a very important meeting and I think that after three years since the
past, there have been a lot of things happening and the industry needs this kind of gathering.
Monte Carlo Rendez-Vous is in the right place and date of the year for this kind of gathering because here at this
very moment, we can discuss what is happening during the first half of the year and we understand as well what is
going on in terms of the hurricane season in the Atlantic and we are preparing ourselves to review and exchange
information with the cedents and other global markets about the renewals on the first of January 2023.

• What will be your upcoming strategy for the Mena region?
- We are highly committed to the Mena region, we started doing business in the Mena region five years ago and I am very proud to say that one third of our book
of business now comes from Middle East and Mena region and we are committed to grow that book of business and improving our business relationships with
distribution channels and cedent companies in the Middle East.

• Are you satisfied from your results?
- We are really satisfied; we learned a lot and we are still learning. We are improving our knowledge about takaful and retakaful and we keep conversation alive
with important players, markets, and authorities of the region.
