IRB Re Expands MiddleEast Market ReachThrough Kay International
IRB(Re), the Brazilian private reinsurance company, has further strengthened its strategic commitment to the Middle East reinsurance market through the provision of additional reinsurance capacity exclusively through Kay International AMEA Limited, the DIFC-regulated reinsurance underwriting agency and reinsurance broker.
The additional capacity builds upon the relationship established between IRB(Re) and Kay International AMEA and further enhances Kay International AMEA’s ability to provide high-quality reinsurance solutions to brokers and cedants across the Middle East.
The reinsurance underwriting agreement has been broadened in two aspects. The underwriting arrangement increases the reinsurance capital deployment for Property and Engineering/Construction facultative risks across selected markets in the Middle East and Türkiye. It has also been expanded to include Casualty and Financial Lines products. The expanded capacity represents a further step in the development of the relationship and reinforces the commitment of both organizations to supporting the region’s evolving reinsurance requirements.
Walid Sidani, Managing Director & Group Chief Executive Officer of Kay International AMEA Limited, commented at the 68th Rendez-Vous de Septembre held in Monaco from September 7-9, 2026:
“We are extremely pleased to further strengthen our relationship with IRB(Re) and to receive additional capacity to support the Middle East market exclusively through Kay International AMEA. This expansion is a strong endorsement of the trust that IRB(Re) has placed in our underwriting capabilities, regional market knowledge and distribution platform.”
“Our objective is to build long-term relationships with highly regarded international capacity providers and to deploy that capacity responsibly against quality risks. IRB(Re)’s continued commitment to the region provides our broker and cedant partners with an additional source of specialist reinsurance capacity and further strengthens our ability to support their requirements.”
Hugo Daniel Castillo, Chief Executive Officer of IRB(Re), commented “With our new subsidiary in Switzerland under the process of regulatory approval, it is our goal and focus is to be closer to our clients in Middle East, while maintaining our core our values and discipline for the benefit of our clients and shareholders. Our relationship with Kay International AMEA is in line with this focus”.
The expanded arrangement reflects the shared strategic objectives of IRB(Re) and Kay International AMEA to facilitate greater access to international reinsurance capacity and support the development of sustainable risk-transfer solutions across the Middle East.
For Kay International AMEA, the relationship further supports its strategy of leveraging its DIFC-based underwriting platform, regional market presence and international network of capacity providers to deliver technically focused reinsurance solutions for commercial and industrial risks.
For IRB(Re), the arrangement provides an established channel through which to deepen its engagement with the Middle East market and access business through Kay International AMEA’s regional broker and cedant network.
