General Electric said on Tuesday it would spilt into three public companies, as the U.S. industrial giant seeks to simplify its business, cut down debt and breathe life into a share price battered over several years.
The company will be divided into separate units focused on aviation, health care and energy. The ambitious move drove an 8.2% rise in GE shares in premarket trading.
