GE to Split into Three Companies
The logo of General Electric painted on a cracked wall.

General Electric said on Tuesday it would spilt into three public companies, as the U.S. industrial giant seeks to simplify its business, cut down debt and breathe life into a share price battered over several years.
The company will be divided into separate units focused on aviation, health care and energy. The ambitious move drove an 8.2% rise in GE shares in premarket trading.
